Caritas Albania

History

Caritas Albania is a humanitarian organization that works to improve the living conditions of people in need in Albania. It was founded in 1993 by the Conference of Bishops of the Catholic Church, two years after the end of the communist regime, and was recognized by the French state as a charitable organization of the Albanian Catholic Church with the decision of the District Court of Tirana, on 03.10.1995. Since 1994, Caritas Albania is a member of Caritas Internationalis and Caritas Europa, worldwide network of Catholic organizations that offer help.

We believe in the value and dignity of human life. We help based on humanitarian and spiritual values. We believe that everyone has the right to be involved in decisions that affect their lives. We believe that respect for human rights will ensure sustainable development.
